History
Breen’s Cleaners has served the LaGrange, LaGrange Park, Western Springs, Downers Grove, Countryside and Hinsdale communities for more than 85 years. The Breen family only recently retired and sold the business to Tom Bartnett, who also owns Greenacre Cleaners. The Breen family was committed to improving the dry cleaning industry for the last 8 decades. Family members have served the national trade organization at top levels for many years. Tom Bartnett is now involved in serving the state trade association Illinois State Fabricare Association. Greenacre Cleaners has served the DeKalb, Sycamore and Rochelle communities also for more than 85 years. Larry and Jane Greenacre retired from the business in the early 1990’s. The Anderson family then purchased the business and resold it to Tom Bartnett in 2002.

Experience
Both Tom Bartnett and Eric Armstrong bring years of experience to our cleaners. Tom is a 3rd generation dry cleaner. His family runs dry cleaners in St. Louis and in Phoenix. Eric is a 4th generation dry cleaner. His family runs dry cleaners in Omaha. Both have attended extensive training classes at the International Fabricare Institute in Washington, DC.

Environmentally Friendly For Generations . . Our state-of-the-art Columbia/Ilsa cleaning machine uses an environmentally safe Hydrocarbon Solvent system. We are proud to sustain the “green” philosophy started back in 1920 by the Breen family.

Awards & Achievements
Greenacre/Breen’s has twice received the PRIDE AWARD from the city of DEKALB for environmental achievements.

We have received the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE by the CLOTHING CARE COUNCIL in 2005, 2006 and 2007!This award differentiates the cleaners that have demonstrated commitment to training and have proven their ability to professionally clean clothes and remove a set of the most difficult stains from delicate garments without damaging the fabric. Our personnel were designated as “Master Spotters” all three years. Only 300 dry cleaners in the United States have received this award. Even fewer have received the Master designation. Both owner Tom Bartnett, and General Manager, Eric Armstrong have attained the levels of Certified Professional Dry Cleaner and Certified Environmental Dry Cleaner.
